She wished she had known that there were so many decisions to make. Her fiancé had suggested that they elope when they took their vacation a few months ago. It would have been so easy to come home and tell everyone that they were married instead of just engaged. But she thought about her mother’s excitement and her dad’s pride in their only daughter’s wedding and she had said no.
Now she was scheduling appointments to see which reception hall to book and for trying on dresses. Right now she was looking at wedding invitations trying to find the perfect one.
At least the church was easy, her mom had already spoken to their minister and he was ready to book it when they decided on a date. Her in-laws were not too religious so there was no fight about that location.
But there were currently problems with the date that had been chosen as her maid of honor may already be booked. Ashley needed to decide whether she was keeping her date or her friend in the wedding.
Her phone rang and she looked at the number. She took a deep breath as it was time for the choice, Cailee was calling. She prayed that she was making the right decision as she answered the phone.
When the conversation was over, she breathed a sigh of relief as it was done. The date was chosen and she still had her friend as an attendant. As much as she was sorry that the other wedding was cancelled, she was glad hers could proceed as she wished.

When I got back into the table top gaming scene, I learned about
several
businesses that catered to my hobbies. I had no idea they were
so close to
where I lived. Over the next while I went around to each
shop to check out
their wares. I very quickly realized that even
though they were competing
businesses, they had come to a sort of
equilibrium with each other. Each
business dabbled in everything from
trading cards to board games, but they
had each taken on a specialty.
One store specialized in Magic cards, a
popular game among teenagers.
They had dozens of display cases just packed
with rare cards. Another
store was fully stocked with every kind of die you
may need for any
board game, and every board game you can think of. I do show
a bit of
preference for attending events thrown by one store in
particular.
They use event management software when they plan tournaments, so
the
organization of their events is much more efficient. I invited
some
friends of mine to come to one of the tournaments that took place
last
month and they were very impressed by the way everything flowed.
It’s
little details like that which draw in customers like myself and
keep
them loyal. I wonder if the other stores will take the hint and
get
their own organizational software.

I think it’s the little things that make special occasions just that,
special. That little extra effort can go a long way in making an
evening more enjoyable or a game more immersible. For example, I was at
a party where everyone was enjoying playing board games while fantasy
movies played in the background. I had brought a pre-made adventure
for the king of tabletop games, Dungeons and Dragons. I had carefully
prepared several characters for the players to use. However, to make
it really enjoyable, I also included bits of costume for the players
to wear while they played. The players loved the idea and really got
into their characters after donning the costumes, breaking the ice
with one another and generally having a great time. I believe the same
principle can be applied to just about every social occasion or
gathering. Personalized napkins for guests, to take another example,
can make the guests feel as though they were especially thought of
during the planning of the party. These little party tricks can do
wonders to liven up an evening, or break the ice among strangers.
Recently, I’ve been trying to obtain personalized goblets for my
Dungeons and Dragons group, each one modified to suit its user’s
personality. I hope that giving these mugs to my player will encourage
them to find ways to make themselves more like their characters and
really get into the game.

Oh man, definitely my favorite part of any wedding is the favor bags.
I simply delight in receiving gifts and nothing beats getting gifts at
someone’s special occasion like a wedding or birthday. I find them
really quite charming. Plus, it’s always nice to know the host is
considerate towards their guests. If I attend a wedding and don’t
receive a favor bag, I’m usually pretty put out. They always have such
nifty little gifts in them! Once I got a kendama inside a wedding
favor bag. For those of you who may not know, a kendama is a
traditional Japanese toy very similar to our “ball-and-cup” toy. As
someone whose hobbies include juggling, a kendama appealed to me in
many ways, both as entertainment and a challenge of my dexterity. I
was very touched when the groom saw me playing with it and came over
to tell me that they had specifically picked out that gift just for
me. No one else at the wedding had one. It really made my day and I
thanked the bride and groom profusely for it. I don’t get much
practice with the kendama now. I’m usually wrapped up in work or
school or chores. But I have it sitting on my desk and whenever I look
at it, I get that warm feeling again.

There was nothing that really stood out when our friends designed their wedding
event. It was truly beautiful and filled with so many amazing flowers. In fact
we had never seen so many flowers at a wedding event. The bouquets were simply
stunning. There was color and beauty by the handful, literally. We enjoyed
seeing the many flowers and smelling them as well. There was a huge emphasis
placed on the fragrance of the flowers. As we entered into the church the small
area that held the guest book was a gathering of the many fragrances from the
variety of flowers being used in the wedding. As the bridesmaids made their way
down the isle we could smell their bouquets. The bride’s bouquet was yet another
aroma of beautiful flowers. The invites had mentioned any allergies to flowers
would be difficult for guests at this event and we certainly understood that
warning. They had their unity ceremony done with candles. The stands that held
the candles were wrapped in some really amazing floral vines that truly gave off
a fragrance of a summer flower. The following Sunday the preacher announced to
his congregation that the fragrance of flowers was so strong after that wedding
that his clothes continue to have that fragrance. In fact, everyone in the
church still could smell it as well. It was just hanging in the air. We loved
it. When he asked if it anyone wanted to open a door to air it out as he gave
his sermon everyone yelled out, No! Everyone enjoyed the smells of summer.
